86% of homeless people had a lifetime diagnosis of mental illness or substance abuse. This is 2-3 times the rate in the general population.

When our participants tell us their stories, there is always an underlying theme of courage and strength. Living with mental illness and in poverty tests the human body and soul to its limit. Yet somehow our participants find a way to be hopeful, caring, and creative, and to define their own paths to Recovery.

Houselink participants are also enormously generous with their stories.  In the case of the Dream Team, participants share their stories to inspire the kind of change that will make our communities more inclusive.
